The Next Best Place to Living at Home

July 27, 2012

When showing individuals around Kingston, they use some  of the following words to describe what they see and feel.  The most often used words that they say are,  “It feels very homey”.  It does seem to be the one word that describes Kingston the best.  When someone says it’s homey, what they are saying is that it feels like home instead of an institution or fancy hotel.  They can see, feel and sense the family atmosphere as they walk around.  They can imagine themselves living here and enjoying the home cooked food, the relaxing atmosphere, the fun and interesting activities and peaceful surroundings.

Another phrase that I hear from visitors is, “Everyone here seems so happy.”  It’s been my experience that the vast majority of residents and staff are happy to be at Kingston.   Kingston has been voted “The Best Place to Work in Marion”.  I happen to think that it’s also “The Best Place to Live” in Marion.  I can honestly say that I look forward to coming to work every day and most of the staff also feels that way.  I also believe that the majority of residents are happy to live here and they show it by how they treat each other and the staff.

I also hear visitors say, “I’ve always heard such good things about Kingston.”  Kingston is very well known in the area for good food, great activities, longevity of staff, community involvement and outstanding care.  Since 1998, Kingston has set the standard for what a full-service retirement community is all about.

One last comment I hear from visitors is “Kingston does a lot for the community.”  Part of Kingston’s mission is to be an advocate for seniors and seniors’ issues.  That’s why we either take leadership or participate in community events such as Senior Day at the Fair, Marion County Historical Society Bean Dinner fund raiser, Palace Theatre sponsorship, Popcorn Festival sponsorship, Red Cross sponsorship,
Alzheimer’s Walk fund raiser, Music in the Park sponsorship, Community Chats on senior topics, Marion Senior Center partnership, Marion County Council on Aging partnerships and much more.

I believe Kingston is the next best place to living at home.  If my mom or dad were alive today and needed assisted living or memory care, I would not hesitate in wanting them to live here.
